Dear Sir or Madam:
I am pleased to send you information about the Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship, a competitive national program that provides college graduates the opportunity to work in Washington, DC, with a public-interest organization focusing on international security issues. The program has awarded 120 fellowships since its inception in 1987. The fellowship is offered twice yearly, in the spring and fall. It lasts from six to nine months and provides a stipend, health insurance, and travel costs to Washington. The Scoville Fellowship does not award grant or scholarship money to students.
Scoville Fellows may undertake a variety of activities, including research, writing, and advocacy in support of the goals of their host organization and may attend coalition meetings, policy briefings, and Congressional hearings. They have written fact sheets, letters to the editor, op-eds, articles, briefing books and reports, organized talks and conferences, and been interviewed as experts by the media. Many former Scoville Fellows work for U.S. and international NGOs, the Federal Government, and academia, or attend graduate school in political science or international relations, following their fellowships.
Please encourage those interested in peace and security issues to visit our website at http://www.scoville.org/. The Scoville Fellowship is a small organization and we lack the resources to send staff to college career fairs and to post jobs on individual university websites. Although the majority of Scoville Fellows received college degrees in political science, government, international relations, or history, we do not require any specific major. There is no application form; the application requirements are listed on the website, as are links to the websites of each of the twenty-four participating organizations and information on the work of current and former Scoville Fellows. Applications must be submitted via email. A flyer about the program can be printed from www.scoville.org/flyer.html The next application deadline is October 5 for the Spring 2010 Fellowship.
All U.S. citizens, and foreign nationals residing in the United States, are eligible to apply; non-U.S. citizens living outside of the United States are not.
Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the fellowship.
Sincerely,
Paul D. Revsine

Unlike many companies this year, Raytheon is not cutting back on new hire positions.
My political science education has given me a good background and the necessary critical thinking skills for the job description. I currently work on the F-15 International Program. I manage the contracts between Raytheon and the Japanese Self Defense Force and the Republic of Korea Air Force for F-15 radars. It's a healthy mix of business and law, and most people with my job go on to get a JD or MBA.
Raytheon is one of fifteen universities including USC, George Washington, Boston College, and others where the Contracts Leadership development Program interviews.
Raytheon will be at the career fair on September 30th. John Evans represents the Contracts recruiting and will also be accompanied by the Engineering recruiters as well. About a week later the first interviews are conducted. A few days later, the campus screening or second interviews are conducted. Qualified individuals are invited six weeks later by the company to Boston for a series of final interviews at Corporate Headquarters. John naturally targets the Marriott School for the business students because of its reputation, but last year no one from the business school was hired.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with me or John Evans. Also if students want more information, they can call or email me as well at Wyatt.Grantham@raytheon.com. I encourage them to attend the career fair (That's where I first found out about Raytheon) and information sessions.
I also wanted to encourage my fellow future BYU grads to appreciate their education and the university they attend. BYU has a great reputation and I have only been admired since entering the work force because I attended and excelled at BYU.
