The annual G. Homer Durham Lecture took place in January 2017, with guest speaker Hannah Smith of Becket Law. Read more about her topic of religious liberty and the promise of American pluralism.

We are preparing now for Beyond BYU 2017, a networking and career mentoring event in Washington, D.C. that will take place this May. It will be a very worthwhile event and we look forward to reporting more on it!

The BYU Political Affairs Society student chapter organized its annual Utah State Capitol Trip this past January, where students were able to meet with legislators and become more acquainted with state and local government.
​The January 2017 department newsletter features a wide range of articles, including an overview of the 2016 Thailand Mentored Research PRogram and the coverage of the November 2016 election by the Utah Colleges Exit Poll.
Congratulations to senior Laura Boyer, who received the 2016 MPSA award for Best Undergraduate Paper in a Power Format! Laura will be honored at the 2017 MPSA Annual Meeting in Chicago this April.
Three BYU faculty recenly spoke with Julie Rose on BYUradio's Top of Mind. Prof. Quinn Mecham discussed the 2016 World Events in Review, while Prof. Eric Hyer and adjunct professor Robert Griffiths discussed Taiwan and US-China relations.
