The BYU Political Affairs Society student chapter organized its annual Utah State Capitol Trip this past January, where students were able to meet with legislators and become more acquainted with state and local government.


The January 2017 department newsletter features a wide range of articles, including an overview of the 2016 Thailand Mentored Research Program and the coverage of the November 2016 election by the Utah Colleges Exit Poll.
                                   
​Congratulations to current student Laura Boyer, who received the 2016 MPSA award for Best Undergradaute Paper in a Poster Format! Laura will be honored at the 2017 MPSA Annual Meeting in Chicago.
Three BYU faculty recently spoke with Julie Rose on BYUradio's Top of Mind. Prof. Quinn Mecham discussed the 2016 World Events in Review, while Prof. Eric Hyer and adjunt professor Robert Griffiths discussed Taiwan and US-China relations.
Alumna Luisa Patoni-Rees, (BA '14) is a current BYU Law student. She recently spent a week in Texas volunteering at a detention center for women and children fleeing violence in their home country and seeking asylum in the United States.
