Bio
Dr. Self received his PhD from Cornell in 2022 and joined BYU’s political science department that same year. His research interests focus on democracy and authoritarianism with a specific interest in how political parties and militaries affect the development of these regimes. Current Dr. Self is teaching the core course on Comparative Politics and a course on Democracy and Authoritarianism.
