Eliza Bennett

Salutatorian

Eliza Ruth Bennett, a political science major with minors in international development and global women’s studies, is the daughter of Laurel and James Bennett. Throughout her undergraduate career, she has participated in a number of policy projects, including work with UNICEF, AidData, and the Malawian Ministry of Gender. Eliza is deeply grateful for her wonderful mentors and professors, without whom she would never have been able to succeed. She was given the opportunity to work in the Global Politics Lab for two years, under the guidance of Doctor Celeste Beesley and Doctor Jessica Preece, as well as a research assistant and a teaching assistant for a number of professors. She was awarded the Wheatley Leadership Scholarship, and was given the opportunity to present her research at a number of academic conferences. Outside of academics, Eliza was able to serve as president for the BYU Political Affairs Society and for the BYU Students for International Development club, and she was inducted as a member of Pi Sigma Alpha’s political science honors society. Eliza hopes to go on to get a PhD in public policy, specializing in gender studies.
