Ken Stiles

Professor

Biography

Ken Stiles received his PhD from Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore) in 1987 and has been teaching full-time ever since. He has taught at Bowling Green State University (1987-1993), Loyola University Chicago (1993-2003) and BYU (2003-). His fields of expertise include international relations, international institutions, international law, and international ethics. Notable publications include International Norms and Cycles of Change (Oxford 2009, with Wayne Sandholtz), State Responses to International Law (Routledge 2014 - winner, ISA best book in international law 2016), Trust and Hedging in International Relations (Michigan 2018), and The Domestic Sources of International Institutions: Making Up the Rules (Routledge 2023). He is married to Rebecca Stiles and has five children.
