Amy-Jill Levine, an expert in both Jewish Studies and Early Christianity, will explore the Jewish context of the historical Jesus and his interaction with and teachings about women. Levine is is University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies and Mary Jane Werthan Professor of Jewish Studies at the Vanderbilt University Divinity School and College of Arts and Sciences. She co-edited The Jewish Annotated New Testament and has written a number of books, including The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus and Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi. Levine is a sought-after speaker, having given over five hundred lectures around the world on the Bible, Christian-Jewish relations, and religion, and gender.
