Kennedy Research Fellowships
The David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies invites applications for Kennedy Research Fellowships for winter semester 2023.  The deadline for fellow applications is Saturday, Oct 15

Student research fellows will pursue a research project during winter semester related to the Kennedy Center’s winter academic theme: Building a Civil Society.

Fellows will complete an academic paper or creative work during winter semester and be prepared to present the results of their research during the Kennedy Center lecture series in winter semester 2023.

Student fellows will select a mentor to help guide their research and receive a research stipend of $1,000. Half of the stipend will be awarded at the beginning of Winter semester and half at the end of the semester upon conclusion of the research.

The Sorensen Center for Moral and Ethical Leadership invites all BYU students, faculty, and staff/administration to enter the Leading by Faith Art competition. Held on November 7-14, students and faculty can drop off Artwork at the Sorensen center in the McDonald Building and see it displayed and judged on November 17-18. Prizes are available and include cash prizes up to $1,000.

Town Hall Meeting with Utah Governor Spencer Cox
The BYU campus community is invited to sit down with Utah Governor Spencer Cox for an afternoon of meaningful conversation and interesting insights from the Governor.

This event is co-sponsored by the Wheatley Institute and Civic Engagement. Pizza will be provided for the first 100 registrants.

Volunteer Opportunity
“The Victims of Mao,” is a memorial service that remembers those who were killed during the cultural revolution, tells their stories, and focuses on how we can help increase gratitude for our 1st Amendment rights while supporting those who are also seeking freedom of speech, religion, and press. This event will take place on November 7th, the state holiday for honoring victims of communism, and has drawn attention and support from Utah legislators. All are welcome to attend, and volunteer positions are available for a panel of judges that will be over a K-12 speech contest. Volunteers to greet guests, pass out books and pamphlets, and direct the flow of traffic are also welcome and appreciated!

When: November 7, 2022 @ 6:30-8:30 pm
Where: Utah State Capitol, Rotunda

Test Perfect on the GRE/GMAT
Test Perfect is coming to BYU's Grad Fair and will be hosting GRE/GMAT info sessions. Our instructor, Phil Hatch, scored perfect on the GRE, perfect on the LSAT, and 790 out of 800 on the GMAT. We'll explain what to expect on test day, how to prepare for the tests, and explain math, verbal, and strategy skills.

Research Fellow Position
Assist faculty members at Stanford Law School conducting timely and policy-relevant research in empirical social science, including economists John J. Donohue and Daniel Kessler. Designed for graduating seniors or recent college or master’s program graduates, the fellowship provides a unique opportunity for those considering graduate school, law school, and/or business school in the future.

Full-time, starting Summer 2023. Fellowships last for one year, with an option to renew for a second year by mutual agreement of the professor and the fellow.

The deadline for the first round is 7:00AM PST on Monday, October 17, 2022. The deadline for the second round will be decided in late October, depending on the needs of the program.

Spring Governor's Office Fellowships
The Governor's Office is opening applications for the spring fellowship program. These are the positions they are actively recruiting for:
  1. Communications (led by Jennifer Napier-Pearce)
  2. State and Federal Policy (co-Led by Neil Abercrombie and Gordon Larsen)
  3. Constituent Services (led by Mike Mower)
  4. Legal Analysis and Research (led by Daniel O’Bannon)
  5. State Innovation (led by Rich Saunders)
  6. Education and General Services (led by Brittney Cummins)
This program is compensated at a rate of $14/hr. and comes with an intensive 2-day training experience. However, please note that they are requesting a 6-month commitment from students (i.e. January to June).

The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship is  a highly competitive national fellowship program that provides recent college and graduate school alumni with the funding and opportunity to work with one of two dozen participating institutions in Washington, DC, including leading think tanks and advocacy groups that focus on international security and diplomacy issues.

The LGBTQ Victory Institute brings outstanding LGBTQ college students to Washington, DC, for an 8- or 10-week intensive leadership program, including an internship with an LGBTQ-friendly member of Congress or caucus. This is a paid opportunity and includes a living stipend, housing in DC, travel to/from DC, transportation stipend, and travel/registration to the International LGBTQ Leaders Conference in December 2023.  

The internship is open to current LGBTQ undergraduate students of all genders, orientations, abilities, races, and political affiliations, including people with majors other than political science. If you’re interested in public service, building your leadership skills, and working on advocacy, this is the internship for you!
