CLASS ADDED TO THE WINTER SCHEDULE
 
You may be interested to know that POLI 364: Jurisprudence has been added to the Winter 2022 schedule. This course counts towards the Legal Studies emphasis. 

Course Summary: Problem approach to ancient and modern legal philosophies, emphasizing the nature of justice and the relation of law to morality.

BYU Women in Politics will be holding a movie night and service project on October 27th! We will be watching “On the Basis of Sex” about Ruth Bader Ginsburg and making blankets for Afghan refugees. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Seriatim Journal of American Politics at University of Virginia is in their final week of accepting submissions for their Fall 2021 journal. Submissions must be related to American politics or political theory, but they also encourage topics that incorporate other disciplines. Further guidelines and submission instructions can be found here

This would be a great opportunity to get published ahead of job and internship applications.
The deadline to submit is Monday, November 1 at 11:59 PM ET.

Data Search and Entry Position
Professor Dynes is looking for temporary research assistants to help with data search and entry. The data search component will consist of looking up information about municipal elections from online sources. The data entry will consist of two parts. First, entering in the information you find about the municipal elections in the spreadsheet. The second part will consist of copying data on municipal officials from PDFs and pasting it into excel spreadsheets.

Pay starts at $11/hour, and you will be expected to work a minimum of five hours a week. Those who do good quality work and put in at least five hours a week will receive a $0.50 of higher wage increase after the first 2 weeks. When and where you work is flexible. You just need to have access to a computer and the internet to be able to do the job. Braver Angels Internship 
Are you a young person, or do you know a young person, who may be interested in an internship with Braver Angels? The Debate and Public Discourse Team is seeking an intern for this spring semester. This position is ideally suited for either current college students, or students on a gap year, who are interested in political discourse, public speaking, or debate.

Congressman Stewart's Bountiful Office Internship
Our office is looking for 1-2 interns for this upcoming Winter semester. We will offer either one full time internship or two part time internships, depending on the availability of applicants. The position will be in-person at Congressman Stewart's Bountiful, UT office. We are open 9-5, M-F. This position comes with a stipend. 
 
Our interns submit case inquiries with federal agencies, write letters on behalf of the Congressman, attend meetings with staff, and respond to phone calls from constituents.

Wilson Center Research Assistant
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is looking for qualified students (advanced undergraduate or graduate) interested in being part-time research assistant interns in the Spring 2022 semester. An intern typically works 12-15 hours a week per scholar (the number of hours can be adjusted accordingly to fulfill academic requirements).

The Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs Internship
The Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs (OLCA) at the U.S. Department of Education is now accepting applications for unpaid interns to work in our office in the Spring 2022 semester (starting in January 2022); applications are due no later than November 5, 2021.

OLCA seeks to enlist and engage students with broad and diverse backgrounds to join our team. We are especially interested in students who are pursuing education related or government policy related fields. We have a great, fast-paced office and every day is a learning experience. Our interns do substantive work, learn a tremendous amount about how our government works, and are valued members of our team. We emphasize personal growth and opportunity to experience a wide range of activities.

The workshop will be conducted by BYU alum Hailey Evans, a veteran TestMasters instructor with 11 years of LSAT teaching experience and a perfect 180 LSAT score. Attendees will be challenged with a series of difficult LSAT questions and Hailey will demonstrate the most effective methods for tackling them.
