First Generation College Student Celebration Day on Nov 8 
BYU Office of Belonging and The First Generation College Student Organization present an interactive experience exploring the stories of first-generation college students on campus and the ways that we can help each other improve our education at BYU.

Join us on Nov 8 for TWO events
Our first event is from 12-2 pm for a Wizard of Oz experience starting at a booth outside of the office of belonging in the WILK.
*The experience can last from 1-10 minutes depending on the time you are available so please stop by for a treat and enjoy learning more about first-generation college students as you follow the yellow brick road.
 
Join us for our second event with the FIGSO club in the evening from 7-8 pm
in Room 3223 in the WILK
*light refreshments will be served

Join us for a panel discussion with Latinx social scientists in our college. The panel will be moderated by Kathleen Reyes from the Dean's Office. Panelists include:
  • Melissa Alcaraz, Sociology Department
  • Ashley Jimenez Fraser, School of Family Life
  • David-James Gonzales, History Department
Come learn about their experiences and what their culture and communities bring to social science disciplines. Then, consider what unique gifts and perspectives you bring. There's so much we can learn from each other. All students are invited and welcome.

Pandemic Politics: The Deadly Toll of Partisanship in the Age of COVID
Tuesday, November 10, 5pm, 238 HRCB

Put all your social science skills to work conducting research and then present your work at the Mentored Student Research Conference at BYU. This half-day poster conference is made possible by the Mary Lou Fulton endowed chair in the College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences. All undergraduate and graduate students from any department or school in the college are invited to participate. The conference gives students an opportunity to orally present their research to other students, faculty members, and the public. Cash prizes are awarded in each category and those who participate may apply to be reimbursed for graduate school applications. Submission deadline is Tuesday, November 29 at 12pm.

Global Engagement Scholarship Opportunity

The Global Leaders Scholarship Fund (GLSF) works to empower Utah's young people from different backgrounds to participate in critical global conversations with peers from around the world by covering all travel expenses for a recipient to visit an international or national conference. 
The application closes on December 31st
Application Qualifications:
-        Attend (or will be attending) a Utah college or university
-        Be between the ages of 18-32
-        Meet our requirements for financial aid

The American Enterprise Institute is now accepting applications for the 2023 AEI Summer Honors Program.

The AEI Summer Honors Program aims to provide ambitious and talented undergraduates the opportunity to study alongside some of Washington, DC’s most renowned policy experts. Participants will explore some of today’s most pressing public policy issues alongside a cohort of students from across the ideological spectrum. Outside of the seminars, students have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of scholars and commentators from think tanks and publications, and explore possible career paths in Washington.

Current undergraduates and recent graduates (winter 2022 or later) are encouraged to apply. You can learn more about the program below, including information about specific courses being offered this summer.

BYU x Northwestern Social Entrepreneurship Opportunity

The Global Engagement Summit is proud to invite social entrepreneurs from Brigham Young University to the 2023 in person-summit!

This is an entirely student-run social entrepreneurship conference held annually in Evanston, IL, on Northwestern’s campus. We invite any young changemakers to apply to be a delegate in the 2023 Summit, to be held on April 19-23. This is a great opportunity for people interested in civic engagement, business, and entrepreneurship.
