Professor Joel Selway is seeking four research assistants for a project looking at the effect of ethnic structure on various social, economic, and political outcomes. Applicants will need to be competent in Stata. They should have taken Poli 300 (formerly Poli 328) or an equivalent. Interest in ethnicity & nationalism, political economy, civil war and violence, and democracy will be pluses. Pay is $15/hour, and students will be expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Conference papers will be considered for publication in the refereed (double-blind, peer reviewed) Journal of the Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters. One outstanding manuscript from each Division will be selected and its author(s) will receive a cash award. Papers are also eligible for consideration for a cash award for the “Best Paper” awarded in each division. All faculty and student members of the Academy are eligible. Abstracts for poster and oral presentations are now being accepted as well.
