The BYU Public Health Department is conducting a research project entitled BYU Campus Conversations. Students will engage in structured conversations about controversial topics such as belonging, relationships, and free speech/cancel culture. Participants will be eligible to receive a $25 Amazon gift card. The current conversation dates and topics are:
  • March 15 @ 7 PM - Topic: Free Speech, Hate Speech, and Cancel Culture

Utah Diplomacy is seeking individuals who want to serve on our International Youth Summit planning committee. This year’s Youth Summit will be September 29th - 30th and the theme is Ripple Effect. They are looking for people who want to participate in outreach, choosing speakers and breakout sessions, logistics, and selecting Utah’s 7 for 17 award winners. The planning committee will begin meeting at the beginning of April.

Applications for SICSS Summer School in Computational Social Sciences at the University of Rochester (May 8 - May 19) are now open! Seniors planning to do a PhD, Master's students, PhD students, and junior faculty within 7 years of their PhD from different fields interested in computational social sciences are welcome to apply! We are very excited about re-organizing the event for the 2nd time this year!
 
This summer school will give you an opportunity to build an exciting project with a team of researchers (i), expand your research network (ii), learn about the more quantitative aspects of social sciences (iii), and hear what an exciting range of speakers from the field have to say! (iv)

Research Assistants Needed
Professor Celeste Beesley is seeking to hire three student assistants to assist her on a research project involving writing, researching, and data analysis on a project that examines how parenthood impacts the perceived and real economic impacts of globalization for men and women.. An ideal candidate for the position would be available to work 5-10 hours per week and at least until August 2023 (continuing onto the next academic year is also desirable), and have taken and done well in 328 or a similar econometrics course in another department. If interested, please email Professor Beesley at celeste_beesley@byu.edu with your resume, an unofficial transcript, and a brief description of your interest in the topic.

Interns Needed
The district office of U.S. Congressman John Curtis here in Provo, UT is recruiting interns for the summer. In the District office, interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent case work or work on District-based projects of importance.
