Picture a Social Scientist Series
This event focuses on mental health with Picture an Anxious Social Scientist. CAPS will be presenting on biofeedback at 2pm, followed by a panel at 3pm. The panel will also be available via Zoom.
This Thursday, 3/31 at 4pm, we will be hosting an internship panel about internships with the State Department. Panelists have completed internships at USAID via the VSFS (Virtual Student Federal Service) program, at the U.S. Mission to the UN, and at U.S. embassies abroad. During the panel, they will share their experiences, application strategies, and other insights based on questions asked at the event.

International Development Professionals Networking Event
Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 7:30 pm in 238 HRCB (the Kennedy Center)
Join SID for an in-person networking event with five professionals in the area including Lonny Ward (Choice Humanitarian), Liz McGuire (BYU Political Science Department), Joan Dixon Heckel (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), Sara Dorsey (UServeUtah), and Sydney Mogotsi (CDC Foundation & LDS Charities). The night will be dedicated to learning about their various paths and experiences within the field. Students will hear from them as a panel for the first half of the night then have the chance to talk to them individually during the second half.  
 
The Global Politics Lab is opening applications for its 2022-23 GPL Fellowships. The fellowship is created to give high-quality, intensive, networked mentoring to students interested in high-level engagement in scholarly literature, analysis, and writing. 

Fellows will enroll in one credit of mentored research for the length of the fellowship (fall and winter with an optional spring term) and receive a small scholarship for the year. Fellows will be working on academic projects under faculty supervision. Fellows will be required to make substantial progress on a publishable paper and to present their work at appropriate conferences. If agreeable to both faculty and student, the student may work additional hours on GPL projects for pay or credit. Hours put in by fellows may exceed the explicit credit or pay received. Fellowships represent an opportunity for intellectual growth exceeding strict compensation.

Job Opportunity for Spanish-Speaking Graduating Seniors at Immigration & Family Law Firm
We're looking to add a case manager / paralegal to our team in Salt Lake City. This job is of interest for  any Spanish-speaking graduating seniors who are interested in working with the local immigrant community.

Paid Internships at Governor's Office
Beginning this fall, our office will now offer 6-month fellowships at an increased rate of $14/hr. (approx. $8,400 total), with tailored support for students to transition into full-time positions within state government. That being said, we would prefer older/more experienced students, but are still willing to consider freshmen and sophomores. 
 
The fellowships will now be hosted in two segments: a Legislative Session Fellowship spanning from January - June, and a Interim Session Fellowship from August - December. College to Congress Fall 2022 Applications Now Open!
The College to Congress (C2C) team would like to invite your students and recent graduates to apply to our all-expenses covered Fall 2022 Congressional Internship Program!

What: We provide full-time, paid, Congressional internships to underrepresented students. The program is free of charge for all participants.

Summer & Fall 2022 Academic Internships - Utah County Attorney's Office Statistics Department
The student intern will work in the Statistics department at the Utah County Attorney’s Office to help collect, clean, and organize data from legal software. They will also help Justice Court attorneys with data input. The data handled by interns are used to create meaningful analysis regarding cases handled in the criminal justice system.

10-Week Paid Research Experience for Undergrads in Disinformation Detection & Analytics
We invite applications for a 10-week summer NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program focusing on disinformation detection and analytics at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.  Applications are due by April 10, 2022.
    We are looking for diverse participants for a paid, hands-on summer research experience to learn more about the real-world impacts of disinformation. Students will choose topics that align with faculty expertise and pursue research projects that advance their skills in valuable STEM areas including data science, data analytics, information retrieval, applied machine learning, web archiving, and social computing.

Bright Line Watch/Online Misinformation Research Fellow
  We are recruiting a research fellow to work with Bright Line Watch, an organization that researches the state of democracy in the United States, and with Professor Brendan Nyhan, a political scientist in the Department of Government at Dartmouth College who studies misinformation. Nyhan and Professor John Carey, another political scientist in the Department of Government at Dartmouth College, are two of the four organizers of Bright Line Watch and would supervise the research fellow’s work on its initiatives.

    The fellowship requires a one-year commitment, from September 2022 to August 2023. The exact start and end dates are flexible to accommodate the schedule of the fellow and the needs of BLW and Nyhan.

New Yale Pre-doc program for students interested in pursuing a PhD
This is a new program at Yale's Center for the Study of American Politics this year. The CSAP Pre-Doctoral Fellows Program brings students with a BA/BS to campus to work as full time research assistants in quantitative political science and build skills as they prepare to apply to PhD programs in political science.
