Student Encounter with the Ambassador of Vietnam
 
The Poli 376 US Foreign Policy class will host a student encounter with the Ambassador of Vietnam during his visit to campus on Monday, May 22. The Ambassador is on a tour of Western states sponsored by the U.S. Institute of Peace, to mark the 10th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Vietnam.
 
The event will be held in room 238 at the Kennedy Center at
2pm on Monday, May 22. All are welcome to attend! 
AidData, a research lab at William & Mary, is seeking applicants for a Junior Data Analyst position in its Research and Evaluation Unit. This role focuses on data gathering, joining and analysis for Geospatial Impact Evaluations and other research projects.
 
Applicants for this job must have a bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, government, or a related field. In addition, applicants must have proficiency in Stata or R and a strong research interest in development. It is preferred, but not required, that applicants have experience in geospatial software and data.

Civic Synergy is looking for participants ages 18-30 from all sides of the political, ideological spectrum (Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc.) to join in discussions about some of the most critical issues facing America today. From early June to mid-July of 2023, over the course of 6 sessions, you will have the chance to propose real, tractable solutions to address pressing issues, while preserving economic development, with a politically diverse group of peers. Throughout the program, you will work collaboratively with your team, aiming to propose policies addressing a specific issue of your choice (education or strengthening our republic).
 
Through the program, you will not only discuss pragmatic policy proposals that you'll be able to present to members of Congress, think tanks, and other organizations, but you'll also build the toolkit to have productive conversations and collaborate with those across the aisle.

Utah Senate Democrats
 
 
The Utah Senate is looking for someone to drive forward a project related to the Great Salt Lake. The position would be unpaid, part-time (very flexible hours and schedule),  remote / in person/ hybrid, eligible for credit, opportunities to work directly with Senator Plumb, media opportunities, etc. 
 
It is a great opportunity for a student to direct this special project and really make it their own.

Legislative Assistant Needed

Congressman Blake Moore is hiring a healthcare Legislative Assistant to handle the Congressman’s work on the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee in addition to other legislative issues. This is not an entry-level position, and a background in the healthcare sector, think tank, legislative, administrative, or academic space will all be considered. Utah ties are preferred.

The ideal candidate would have multiple years of experience in healthcare policy, excellent writing and time management skills, and an academic interest in advancing good policy. Responsibilities include preparing briefing materials and memos; advising the Congressman on issues within their portfolio; preparing vote recommendations; managing constituent and stakeholder meetings and outreach; working closely with the committee staff; drafting and advancing legislation and letters; producing and managing conservative policy initiatives; and other duties as assigned.
