Work for Decision Desk HQ This Election Season

Decision Desk HQ has been providing election night results now for over a decade to outlets like NewsNation, Huffington Post, and Scripps TV stations.

With the general election approaching, we'd like to connect with a student body further West, to take advantage of the time zone difference and enhance our existing coverage.

We would be aiming to hire a number of students to take 6 hour shifts monitoring county websites and contacting county clerks via telephone, using our database to transcribe and report the returns in the "late night" states. This is a paid position ($125 for a six hour shift), and they would be provided with all necessary materials and online training.

Interested students should contact brandon@decisiondeskhq.com with the subject line "BYU Remote Reporting".

Poll Workers Needed

Utah County Elections Office is recruiting students to be Poll Workers in June and November, here is some info about how to do that and what they need to know:
  • Election Dates: June 25th, 2024, and November 5th, 2024.
  • Where to apply: https://www.utahcounty.gov/elections/WorkerApp.html
  • When/hours: there is a 3-hour training (there will be several slots to choose from during the week of June 17-21), and Election Day is from 6am until the Vote Center closes (sometime after 8pm)
  • Where: we try to assign Poll Workers to the location closest to home, but this cannot be guaranteed. Our furthest locations are Payson and Saratoga Springs.
  • Pay: Poll Workers are now hired temporarily by the county, so prospective hires must present an ORIGINAL  Social Security Card and correct forms of i-9 documents (see some examples here: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents). Pay is $19.50/hr and training is paid, so total the hours will be a minimum of 17 hours.
  • Why: serving at a Vote Center is a great way to serve your community, get to know others, and learn more about the voting process. It’s an engaging and fun day, and a great way to spend time with friends while doing something meaningful.

If you are interested or would like to be assigned with a friend or family member, please contact:
