Join the department at our biggest (and most fun) event of the year on Tuesday Oct. 5th at 6 PM for OKTERBERFEST! All political science and affiliated majors and minors are welcome. Attendees will enjoy J-Dawgs, s'mores, and entertainment from the Faculty Cover Band. Come prepared to make new friends at this fall-themed shindig and beat your favorite professors (or students) at Jeopardy. 
RA Job Opportunity with Professor Dynes
Openings: 1
Shift: Other
Hourly Wage: $15 to $20 DOE

Professor Dynes is looking to hire a temporary Research Assistant who is proficient in Python. The job will entail using a document parser (like this one) to turn PDF documents containing data on municipal officials into Excel spreadsheets.
 
This job can be done from home. The expectation is that you work at least 4 hours a week until the project is completed.  It may only take 4 hours to complete.

If you are interested in applying, please submit your resume and unofficial transcript to adamdynes@byu.edu. Priority will be given to those with experience using a document parser to convert data found in PDF's into spreadsheets.

 - The month of September includes Hispanic Heritage Month which takes place September 15 to October 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community.

National Suicide Awareness Month - Alternatively, it is also National Suicide Awareness/Prevention Month. Everyone is affected by suicide, not just the victim. Suicide impacts family and friends long after the loss of a loved one. On average, one person commits suicide every 16.2 minutes. Two-thirds of the people who commit suicide suffer from depression.

At the Ballard Brief Summit, you’ll hear answers to these questions and many more.
