Since the Trump administration announced the U.S. would leave the Paris Agreement, the world has looked to China for leadership on climate change. China is the world’s largest producer of solar panels and wind turbines, the largest market for electric vehicles, and has the largest high-speed rail network on the planet. However, China is also the world’s largest emitter of greenhouse gases. This talk will explain China’s “climate paradox” and make sense of China’s seemingly contradictory efforts on climate.
